Textile Waste Recycling

Project Leads:
Danielle Clark & Kim Yao

The life cycle of a clothing garment is extremely resource-intensive and detrimental to the environment. Mass production has enabled the current trend of fast fashion, creating more textile waste. In order to minimize the impact on the environment, we need to reevaluate the current linear fashion business model by incorporating more circular economy concepts and extracting the maximum value of each clothing article. The goal of this project is to find a way to create value from textile waste and educate other students on sustainable fashion practices.

This project will be research-based and will give you a chance to learn about literature review and setting up experiments. If you are passionate about sustainability and recycling engineering, interested in fashion and gaining valuable research experience, check out our position openings!
